Farah Ghafoor
is dedicated to the truth.

Farah Ghafoor is an award-winning poet based in Toronto. Her critically acclaimed debut collection of poetry, Shadow Price (House of Anansi, 2025), explores the climate crisis through an economic and historical lens via the concept of value. Order here.

Striking, witty, devastating, romantic, and complex yet surprisingly readable, Shadow Price was a finalist for the Governor General's Award for Poetry, the Trillium Book Award for Poetry, and the Raymond Souster Award,
longlisted for the Toronto Book Award, and a CBC Best Book of the Year. Selections of the book won the University of Toronto's E.J. Pratt Medal and Prize in Poetry, and were shortlisted for the Far Horizon's Award for Poetry as well. Tune in to her interview with Tom Power on Q, or her feature on CBC Radioactive to learn more.

Her poems have been commissioned for art exhibitions such as Who's Afraid of Labour Justice? (2025) by the Mayworks Festival of Working People and the Arts, and Structural Integrity (2025) by Steelcase Art Projects, the latter of which she spearheaded. Featured widely in anthologies, post-secondary course curriculums, literary and general interest magazines, her interests lie in labour, power, complicity, and the relationships we have with the living and non-living world around us.

Born to Pakistani immigrants in New York State, she was raised in New Brunswick and southern Ontario, and earned her Bachelor of Management and Accounting from the University of Toronto. When she's not reading, writing, or researching, she enjoys decorating cakes, practicing maui thai, and birdwatching.
Currently booking 2026/2027 interviews and events (poetry readings, keynote speeches, craft lectures, classroom Q&As, etc.).

ARC requests and other publicity inquiries can also be directed to House of Anansi via [email protected].
